View More CARES Act Updated: 12/31/2020 The Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act identified $300 million for fisheries and aquaculture. The Commission has been notified by the Department of Commerce that they will be assisting fishery participants affected by COVID-19 in multiple states, territories, and West Coast Tribes. The distribution of funds will be determined by the spend plans prepared by the states, territories, and West Coast Tribes. The Commission is working with the entities to receive these spend plans in a timely manner so we can begin distributing funds. As details become available, we will update our website. The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), Guam, and American Samoa applications are available now. Alaska & Washington are NOT available at this time - Applications for these states/territories will be made available once spend plans have been APPROVED. To accomplish this, we maintain several programs that focus on scientific, inventory and economic research and data collections, consolidation and distribution. View More VMS Reimbursement Request Form The Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) Reimbursement Program was established to offset the cost of purchasing a VMS unit for the purpose of complying with fishery regulations pursuant to the Magnuson – Stevens Act. The reimbursement program was announced by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Fisheries Service in July 2006, and has expanded nationally since its inception. The in collaboration with the NOAA's Office of Law Enforcement (OLE) distributes the allocated reimbursement funds to eligible, confirmed vessel owners and operators.
